Resolutions

Hey J,

I’ll jump on the resolution bandwagon this year, and resolve to spend more time with family in 2015. This Christmas has been a lovely one. I’ve spent some truly quality time with family and friends. I will be scheduling various little get-togethers at my house, or at my favorite local coffee shop, restaurant, cinema, theatre, or museum.

One-word stands between you and your dreams!

In this Ted-talk, Carol Dweck armed with science and test scores proves how the word “yet” can dramatically skyrocket a student’s performance.

Dweck’s study shows that by believing in “not yet” when you’re failing to learn or solve something; your neurons get stronger, make better connections each time you persist, and you get smarter! You just need to believe that at the very moment, you haven’t got the skills “yet”! However, you will succeed if you just work at it and focus on the process rather than the immediate end.

What does this mean?

We can organically grow our persistence and enhance our abilities to solve problems by saying “not yet!” Try it for yourself. The next time you feel like a failure, think “not yet”!
